SAFETY VIDEO CONTEST
RULES & GUIDELINES
- All entries must be a digital video and be submitted in digital format.
- Each entry must focus on the effects of bullying.
- Students must work together in groups of 5-10 and be from the same class.
- Individual entries are not permitted.
- The length of the video should not exceed 120 seconds (two minutes), not including the 10 second title screen (see #6).
- All entries should begin with a 10 second full-screen “title screen” that includes the following information:
- Lead Producer: Teacher's Full Name
- School Name
- Grade
- School City, Province
- Title of Video
- Total Running Time (not including the 10 second title screen)
- All information presented in the video must be cited, giving credit to the original source. Plagiarism of any kind will result in disqualification. You must submit a list of your sources, properly cited.
- Each video must list your Teacher as Lead Producer to serve as the main point of contact. Recognition and prizes will be given to the Teacher (Lead Producer) and all those listed as co-producers (group participants) on the entry form.
- There is no entry fee.
- Video entries may be submitted through Community Safety Net’s website, www.promotesafety4life.com/upload-video.html, by no later than midnight, on Friday, May 18, 2018.
- Winners will be announced on Friday, June 1, 2018.
- No copyrighted materials (music, images, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all copyrighted materials.
- No professional assistance is allowed. Adults may assist with production but are limited to verbal guidance only. Adults are allowed to be actors or to operate camera but not be content contributors.
- All portions of the online entry form must be completed when you upload your video for it to be eligible.
- All participants must submit a signed/completed Actor Release / Parent Permission Form. Forms must be submitted to your teacher.
- Content must comply with all local, provincial, and federal laws of the country of origin. Content must not 1) promote illegal behavior; 2) support racial, religious, sexual or other invidious prejudice; 3) advocate sexual or violent exploitation; 4) violate rights established by law or agreement; 5) invade the privacy of any person; or 6) be otherwise inappropriate as determined by Community Safety Net in its sole and conclusive determination.
- The judges’ decision is final. Entries will be judged by topic. Decisions will be made based on Community Safety Net’s judging criteria.
- The only compensation for submitting a video is the opportunity to be awarded a prize if the entry wins. Community Safety Net will pay filmmakers no additional compensation nor be liable to the filmmaker under any circumstances.
- All entries must be submitted in English, if entries are not in English they must include English subtitles.
- If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, Community Safety Net reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. Except as expressly warranted herein, the Prizes are provided to winners as is without further warranty of any kind.
- Prizes for the winning safety video (group):
- International Recognition via Community Safety Net’s Network of like-minded individuals & organizations; not limited to Website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
- Certificate of Bullying Safety Achievement & a Safety Prize Pack for the winning group.
- A copy of Community Safety Net's Bullying Guide for the winning group and their class.
- A pizza party for the winning group and their class.
- Prize for the Teacher of the winning video:
- $250.00 to use at his/her own discretion.
- Students should keep at least one copy of their video. Community Safety Net is not responsible for any films that are lost, damaged, or that do not upload (transfer) properly.
- Ownership of the underlying intellectual property of the project remains with the entrant, with the following exceptions:
- Entrants grant Community Safety Net the right to use their names, photographs, statements, quotes, testimonials, and video submissions for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without notification or further compensation.
- Entrants also grant Community Safety Net the right to use, reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, and/or display the entrant’s project video without further compensation or notification to the entrant.
- Community Safety Net maintains the right to reproduce, reprint, distribute, perform, display, or exhibit the project for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes on their website, including their social media sites, at conferences, or at any other venues.
- By accepting the prizes, winners agree to hold Community Safety Net and all Community Safety Net employees harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of such prizes. Winner assumes all liability for any injury or damage caused from participation in the contest or use/redemption of any prize.
- Contest entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Rules and Guidelines and by the decisions of the Community Safety Net judging panel, which are final on all matters pertaining to the Contest.
